Javelin Trucking provides a full and comprehensive logistics service to the bulk liquid transport industry, carrying a wide range of products.
1. Edible Oil and Food Grade Products
There is no doubt that Javelin is a leader in edible oil transportation and that it hold’s a substantial share of this market. Since it’s inception in 1986, Javelin has held the Unilever (Van den Berg and Jurgens at that point) account for bulk transport of their edible oil requirement at their manufacturing plant at Boksburg.
| 2. Petroleum & Bulk Lubricants Transport |
|
Javelin is a leading bulk petroleum and lubricant carrier and is contracted in some form to all major petroleum producers in South Africa. The company is recognised as a carrier with specialized equipment, capabilities, experience and expertise. The company has consistently passed all external safety audits set by the various oil companies, most of which are in compliance with international standards.
Bitumen and emulsion haulage for the road construction industry has long been a key focus and Peter Williamson has a personal passion in this area, having started his career in the asphalt industry in the early seventies. Javelin has a fleet of over twenty bitumen trailers, ranging in payload sizes from 20 to 33 tonnes, which services both, the domestic and export market, transporting as far as Malawi and to remote areas such as Zambia, Northern Mozambique and Southern Angola.
Javelin has also been a supplier of bitumen to numerous asphalt plants since its inception. Its relationship and buying facility with Shell, BP and Engen means that the Company has both of the local refineries at its disposal and is in a position to supply at short notice.
| 4. Cross-Border Transportaion |
|
An extensive infra-structure has been setup by the company over the years to service the growing requirements to regional countries in Southern Africa. The competitiveness of the local market has resulted in the Company expanding it’s focus on the regional market and has today become a leader in this area. A dedicated fleet consisting of own and subcontractor vehicles are available to service the various customer requirements to Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique. Javelin enjoys the support of Imperial and associated companies depot facilities in many of the above countries.
| 5. Marine Bunker Operations |
|
Javelin Trucking is the largest operator and a market leader in Marine Bunkering.
Shipping lines are serviced by oil companies globally and have entered into supply agreements which require for their vessels to be supplied with lubes and bunker fuel at international ports. Javelin has been a major player in the KZN area over the last twenty years, having setup bunker contracts with four of the five major oil companies. The company has a full-time bunker controller and three sets of fully equipped and trained bunker supervision teams to meet the challenges of this demanding operation. While the bulk of the bunkering service takes place at the Durban and Richards Bay Ports, the company is often called out to ports in the Eastern and Western Cape, sometimes as far as Saldhana Bay. Javelin has had the distinction of bunkering vessels ranging in size from small fishing trawlers to large passenger liners like the QE2.
